A Joyful Welcome to Michael Finney

Please join us in welcoming our new Diocesean Administrator!

We are delighted to welcome Michael “Mike” Finney to the Diocese as our new Diocesan Administrator! Starting on December 16, 2024, Mike brings a wealth of talent, a heart for ministry, and an eagerness to serve. His thoughtful, innovative approach centers on using technology to strengthen connections and make daily work easier for everyone.

Mike Finney

When asked to describe himself in three words, Mike chose helper, lifelong learner, and curious—qualities that shine through in everything he does. Reflecting on his role, he shared,

“It’s not just a job, but a ministry. It is going to be an honor to serve the congregations of this Diocese.”

Mike is joined by his family, including their charismatic rat terrier mix, Frida, whose approach to snacks is hilariously simple: she stares until you "do the right thing." Beyond his work, Mike is passionate about yoga—he’s a certified 500-hour Yoga Teacher Trainer working toward Yoga Therapist certification—and enjoys exploring Wisconsin’s beautiful outdoors in every season.

Mike’s faith guides him in both his personal and professional life. One of his favorite Bible verses is Romans 1:17:

“For in it the righteousness of God is revealed through faith for faith; as it is written, ‘The one who is righteous will live by faith.’”

Please join us in warmly welcoming Mike and his family to the Diocese. We’re excited for the energy, expertise, and inspiration he brings to this ministry.

Fun Facts About Mike:

  • Favorite power drink? Coffee. Lots of coffee.

  • A surprising hobby? He’s a yoga fanatic!

  • Best Wisconsin weekend? Enjoying the outdoors—because, as Mike says, “There’s no such thing as bad weather, just bad attire.” (That’s the Wisconsin spirit!)

  • Family pets? Frida, the persistent snack-seeker.

  • Reading Recommendations? Anything by Thomas Merton.

We think even the best attire won’t save us from debating whether it’s ‘cold’ or ‘just brisk’, however.

Aside from immediately getting upstaged in most things by Frida (including this article) Mike is getting settled in this week. Post-holidays, we will be making connections between Mike and all the ministry leaders to help strengthen our mission of serving you better.

Let’s show Mike and his family the warm and joyful hospitality our Diocese is known for!
